Marlin 35 Lever Action Lever Serial Numbers
- 22 caliber bolt action and semi-autos were not serial numbered prior to 1969 (when the 1968 Gun Control Act was implemented). Firearm serial numbers were date coded by a prefix within the s/n, as signified below. For example a Marlin model 39A with a serial number of N12478 would have been made in 1955.
- Marlin 39 Lever-Action Rifle Star Gun.22S,L,LR Description: Marlin model 39 'Star Gun' lever-action rifle. Chambers.22 short, long or long rifle cartridge. The barrel is octogon and 24' long. Bore shows very little pitting. Bluing is rated at 40% with no signs of rust. The wood stock is rated at 80%. Tubular magazine. Length of pull is 13-1/2'.
- I have a model 39 marlin, round blue barrel, case hardened receiver,lever and hammer. A crescent shaped buttstock with a black plastic butt plate. The top of the tang is marked Model 39. However the barrel is marked 39A. The serial number is on the bottom of the tang and is marked HS and the serial number 1515.
